Ephesus is an ancient Greek city, which later became a major Roman city, just up the road from Kusadasi. During the Roman period, for many years it was the second largest city of the Roman Empire (Rome being the largest). It had a population of more than 250,000 in the 1st century BC, which also made it the second largest city in the world. There were heaps of people there, generally tour groups and it was like any other sight in Europe where it's hard to get a good photo, without someone else in it! The amphitheatre was the most impressive, I wish I could have seen a show there. Equally as impressive was the library that was three stories high.
